LA GRANGE – Day One, Overnight Stay

Located in the Fayetteville County Fair Grounds

How to Get There

  • From Houston, take I-10 West, turn right on Hwy 71, then turn right on Hwy 77.
  • From Austin, take Hwy 290 East and turn right on Hwy 77 South OR take Hwy 71 East and turn left on Hwy 77 North.
  • From Bellville, take FM 36 South to I-10 West, turn right on I-10 West, turn right on Hwy 71, then turn right on Hwy 77.

Vehicle Access to Site

  • All Team Support Vehicles MUST use alternate route only.
  • All vehicles enter fairgrounds on adjacent road to rider entrance off Hwy 77.
  • A designated drop-off and pick-up area is provided. No vehicle pass is needed for this area.
  • Advise friends and family members to park in overflow lots only. Free shuttle buses to the fairgrounds are provided for their convenience.
  • Two vehicle passes will be issued per team of 50 members.
  • Saturday, April 21 Team vehicles allowed on the fairgrounds from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. with pass or permit. After 1 p.m. NO vehicle access.
  • Sunday, April 22 Team vehicles allowed on fairgrounds from 4 to 6 a.m. with pass or permit. From 6 – 8 a.m. NO vehicle access. After cyclists have cleared, open access is permitted.

Tent Information and Set Up

  • Teams may begin setting up tents Thursday, April 19 thru Saturday morning, April 20.
  • There is minimal overnight security beginning Thursday evening.
  • Do not leave valuables in tent. The Society is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
  • Teams with less than 25 members should not rent tents.
  • Large teams must order their tents from Alexander Tent Company in Houston by completing the Tent Space Request Form and faxing it to 713-868-3383. The tent company can be reached at 713-223-8368.
  • Each tent may not be wider than 40 feet (only exceptions are “grandfather clause”); however, length of tent can vary.
  • Specify special requests/locations on Tent Space Request Form.
  • The Society does not provide electricity, running water in tent, lights, tables, chairs, individual portable toilets or sleeping apparatus.
  • Teams must provide their own signage such as a banner with the team names.
  • All tents must have a working fire extinguisher.
  • Teams must clean-up (bagged trash must be placed on the nearest road on Sunday morning).
  • Team tent set-up time
    • Thursday and Friday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. – no vehicle pass
    • Saturday 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. – vehicle pass/permit required

Available Services for Riders

  • Dinner, beverages, medical assistance, bike repairs, shuttle buses to and from showers and motels, bike compound, shower trucks and breakfast on Sunday morning.

Available Services for Teams

  • Reserved team tent areas.

House Rules

  • Don’t park on the highway.
  • Only two vehicles with parking permits are allowed next to your team tent. All other vehicles must park in the general parking areas.
  • Open fires are not permitted.
  • A working fire extinguisher is required in each tent. This will be checked.
  • “Quiet Time” begins at 10 p.m. Saturday. This includes generators.
  • Teams may order individual portable toilets from K&H Portable Toilets with this form (PDF download) or call 979-836-0552. Instruct K&H to place it beside your tent.
  • Don’t leave litter and trash in your tent area. Place bagged trash on the nearest road Sunday morning.
  • Parallel parking is prohibited on roads surrounding tent areas.
